Welcome
Bring the powers of karate to your family — focus, fitness, discipline, endurance, and the ecstasy of hard work.
The Ueshiro Shorin-Ryu Nashville Family Karate Club follows in the tradition of Okinawan karate masters to propagate the ancient art in a family friendly environment.

Shorin-Ryu karate is a martial art that emphasizes kata (or forms) which is the essence of karate.  While we are not a fighting club, instruction includes opportunities to work with training partners using light contact.  Through these methods we develop awareness and perfect techniques.

Come check us out.  All classes are offered free of charge.

Our club is part of Ueshiro Shorin-Ryu Karate USA and is sponsored by the Ueshiro Northern Virginia Karate Club.

Karate is recommended for people of all ages in good health. However, children age 5 through 11 will only be accepted along with a training parent or adult relative. Exceptions may be made if a child shows an exceptional desire and willingness to train.

Youths 12 and up will be allowed to train without a parent, although family involvement is highly encouraged.  A research report, The Family That Trains Together Stays Together by Kyoshi Matt Kaplan, discusses the benefits of family training.
